DIFC Employees

If you work in the DIFC, you are likely enrolled in the DEWS (Workplace Savings) plan, not the standard lump-sum gratuity. Your employer contributes monthly to an investment fund. This calculator does not apply to DEWS — check with your DIFC employer for your DEWS statement.

Free Zone Gratuity Calculator (Standard UAE Formula)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do free zone employees in the UAE get gratuity?

Yes. Most UAE free zone employees are entitled to end-of-service gratuity. Zones like JAFZA, DMCC, SAIF Zone, Hamriyah, TwoFour54, and media free zones generally apply UAE Federal Labour Law for gratuity purposes. The notable exceptions are DIFC (uses DEWS savings scheme) and ADGM (its own Employment Regulations 2019).

What is the Tadbeer gratuity calculator?

Tadbeer is the UAE government's domestic worker recruitment and management platform operating under MOHRE. Domestic workers placed through Tadbeer are entitled to gratuity under Federal Law No. 10 of 2017: 1 month's salary per completed year of service. The Tadbeer gratuity formula is simpler than the standard 21/30-day formula used for regular corporate employees.

How does DMCC calculate gratuity?

DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) employees follow UAE Federal Labour Law for gratuity. The standard formula applies: 21 days basic pay per year for first 5 years, 30 days per year thereafter, with a 2-year basic salary cap. DMCC does not have a separate gratuity calculation methodology — it defers to the Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021.

Is DIFC gratuity the same as UAE gratuity?

No. DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) operates under its own DIFC Employment Law. Most DIFC employees participate in the DEWS (DIFC Workplace Savings) plan, to which employers contribute monthly into an investment account on the employee's behalf. This replaces the traditional lump-sum gratuity. If you work in DIFC, check with your HR if you are enrolled in DEWS or an equivalent qualifying scheme.

Which UAE free zones have their own gratuity rules?

The two major exceptions are DIFC (DEWS scheme) and ADGM (own Employment Regulations). All other free zones — including JAFZA, DMCC, SAIF Zone, Hamriyah Free Zone, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), Ajman Free Zone, KIZAD, and most media/technology free zones — apply UAE Federal Labour Law gratuity provisions.
